The following was designed to help answer questions and share information about reinforcement in concrete. There are often misconceptions about the intent & structural function of concrete reinforcement, especially with rebar and wire mesh. This document references the American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) guidelines for slab on ground (S.O.G) applications to clear up misconceptions on concrete reinforcement.
